Year 5 Woodley Cluster Bake Off Great Success
BackOn Wednesday 8th February we hosted the Year 5 Woodley Cluster ‘Bake Off’ which was a great success with students all working together from different Primary Schools alongside The Bulmershe School Year 9 Food Technology leaders.
Year 5 students from Highwood, Beechwood, St Dominic Savio and Willowbank Primary School spent months planning, designing and practising their showstopper bake ready to be judged by Janet Sartorel – Mayor of Woodley, Jenny the owner of The Fairy Cake Mother and Year 9 Technology leaders.
We are very proud of the following students in Year 9 – Jayden, Cyrus, Polly, Ella, Hanna, Zarina, Josh and Berenice who demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and were highly praised by students, staff and parents. They were a great asset to this event and we are truly grateful.
The day consisted of Year 5 students baking and creating their showstopper bake, and completing an icing technical skills challenge. Their designs were wildly imaginative, expertly crafted and generally fabulous, as can be seen below.
We wish to congratulate the brilliant Year 5 students from Willowbank Primary School who successfully won the ‘Bake Off’ and we are excited to be hosting this event again in the near future.
We would also like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the Woodley council who kindly made a donation towards the ingredients and funded this event; the Mayor of Woodley Janet Sartorel and Jenny the owner of the Fairy Cake Mother for judging; Mrs Andrews for organising supplies, planning the event and synchronising the participating schools; Mr Hickey, Head of Highwood and Chair of the Woodley Cluster, for his wonderful hosting of the celebration event, and the teaching staff and parents from Highwood, Beechwood, St Dominic Savio and Willowbank Primary Schools for all your support – it is much appreciated.
